NTHE REALM OF FORESHADOWINGS
Somewhere in us fords we’ve forgotten and a road that runs through water
someone calls me he’d like to lure me there
to hit me with a plant and what is my fault in this world with its copper
gates
then it’s quiet the nightingales sing
it’s very cold and there are castles inside us
meadows with blue and yellow flowers
and we cross them riding our plastic horses
you understand that we live in an immense bird that carries us inside
it
and we go on a date clean the caterpillars off the branches a girl appears
in front
of us but she can’t stand it either the poor thing she’s exhausted she
swallowed all the linen that she wove while she was waiting for us
she says let’s kiss let’s be happy
let me serve you with a silver spoon let me give you some jam
at least if she were by the stove And here comes King Kong shooting his
slingshot he gets our shirts all dirty rips up our ties
here comes that mess of a professor with his seven heads and he grades
us as if
we didn’t know enough material
he takes us to the lab to experiment with loneliness
to play ball like twin brothers
we look at each other shake our heads here comes a poor girl with her
face all
covered in soot
she hasn’t rinsed her eyes since the Flood and we get into the car (she’s
next to
us) we speed down the highway
there we hear the news but we don’t understand it we hide our laughter
like at a
funeral we get scared too
there are so many things that happen inside us and we forget them there
like in
a backpack
and everyone thinks that only he knows that thing that the others know
just as
well
but I’m thinking of that happy time when I lived in my mother
I stayed in there thinking what do I care
it rained outside she slept naked with me in her belly
she turned from side to side she sang a magic charm to me in her sleep
she knew that harsh law she wanted to protect me
above the bed swung my sister the moon
